A great historical group of three original WW2 letters/card, 2 envelopes, from and related to a
B-17 Pilot Warren H. Maginn. Two of the letters are from two great pilots, one was a fighter pilot who was famous and the other was a B17 pilot who is not well know but will never be forgotten.
One of the four letters is written by Lt. Warren H. Maginn who was a B-17 Pilot that gave his life
for his country when his plane crashed near Fort Benton with the entire crew lost.
He was with the 395th Bomb
Group, 589th Bombardment Squadron.
Note:
Pilot training during WW2 was
rigorous
and
extremely
dangerous, out of the 35,000+ U.S. Army Corps
Airmen who gave their lives during WWII, 14,000 died on US soil and other parts of the world training for combat Of the Men who made it to combat 50%
perished
.
Lt. Warren H. Magian
letter is written to his Mother and
was written while he was at Waco Texas in Flight School. The letters is
three pages long and dated Dec. 18th 1942, there id no envelope.
The Card is addressed to his Mother, Mrs. Olga
Maginn
“Dear Mom -“
.
The card is signed:

all my love, Warren”
.
One of the letters is a love letter to
Warren H. Maginn
from his Glendale high-school sweetheart who becomes
his wife. The letter is four pages long, and was sent April 18, 1942. She is still in high school in Glendale, California and
they get married I think while she is in school. Her first name is Hottie and here is some of what she writes
:
“My dearest Warren
, ….  Oh Warren this
anklet is just darling. Oh thank you so very much. I’m going to put it on and never take it off. I just love it.
… Warren I sure love you … All my love Hottie”
There is also a Postcard sent to Warren from A/C Howard N. Hickok. I think Warren met LT. Hickok’s in flight training and Lt. Hickok became a P-47 fighter pilot and Warren became a Bomber pilot.
Capt. Howard N. Hickok was a famous fighter pilot with the Famed 57 Fighter Group. the 57th is know for shooting down 77 German fighters in one day. there is a copy of some clipping about
Capt. Howard N. Hickok. If you search you will find a lot of about him and photos on the internet.
This is a wonderful group of letters and card that illustrates the tremendous sacrifice made by so many Americans during WW2. It would make a good grouping to research. Also included are facsimile
pages from his high school year book and a a three page letter from Warren’s
Father which is a great
“father to son”
advice letter about what Warren needs to do in the Army to made Rank. This copy is
four typed pages long with great content.
(I will try to add more information about this grouping in a day or two)

You will get Lt.
Warren H. Maginn
original WW2 letter to his Mother, one love letter from his high school sweetheart,
one one card from Lt. Howard Hickok and articles. Plus two photo reprints of Warren and Lt. Hickok.  Also a facsimile of a
letter his Fathers wrote to Warren with Army advice. I will also include a copy of a news article about
his B-17 plane crash and Glendale High School photo copy of  Lt.
Warren H. Magian and copy of

clipping and a small photo

of
Lt.
Warren H. Maginn.
Lt. Warren H. Maginn and thousands of pilots like him were tested to the limit and spent years training all over the The United States for combat. Thousands of B-17 Pilots never made it to combat and many were killed on their very first mission. Many of these pilots are forgotten forever but this one is remembered and his sacrifice helped win the greatest world war in human history.
